Upstate Shredding fire kills one worker, owner says

OWEGO, NY (607NewsNow) — One person is dead after a fire at Upstate Shredding in Tioga County. 

Owner Adam Weitsman says there was an electrical fire Thursday afternoon in the motor room at the Owego facility that killed one of his employees.

According to the Campville Fire Department, “One victim was located and removed from the structure, and the initial crew began immediate lifesaving care. Unfortunately, despite the determined efforts of our crew, the individual could not be revived.”

Investigators are working to find the cause of the fire.
