ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – It’s Veterans Day.

Tompkins County Veterans Services Director J.R. Clairborne says multiple events are happening throughout the county in honor of service men and women, including the annual Veterans Day Ceremony at Dewitt Park in Downtown Ithaca.

A new event this year at the Greater Ithaca Activities Center will focus on women veterans.

Clairborne adds a Veterans Resource Expo takes place on November 14 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Shops at Ithaca Mall.  Local vets can learn about what services and programs are available to them and their families. Experts will be on hand to discuss unemployment, housing, healthcare, and more.

You can also honor service men and women tonight in Cortland.

The American Legion Post 465 in Homer is hosting a Veterans Day Chicken & Biscuit dinner. Free for vets, they’ll be serving from noon to 6 p.m.

The Central New York Living History Center is hosting a Veterans Day Watchfire. As part of the holiday events, admission to the Homeville Museum is free for Veterans from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The fire lighting will be preceded by an indoor ceremony starting at 5:30 p.m.
