CANDOR, NY (607NewsNow) – A boil water advisory is in effect in Candor.

On April 29, the advisory was issued after “inadequate disinfection” for drinking water was found during routine monitoring.

The disinfection process ensures harmful microbes in the water are destroyed. Residents who get their water through the Village Water System are advised to use boiled or bottled water for drinking, making ice, food preparation, washing dishes, and brushing teeth. Water should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute.

An update will be issued when the advisory is lifted, but officials say it’s likely to remain in place through Friday.

Questions? Call the Village of Candor at (607) 659-7966, or Tioga County Public Health at (607) 687-8600.
