VIRGIL, NY (607NewsNow) — A Cortland County town is considering increasing term limits.

Virgil currently has two-year terms for town supervisor and town clerk. A proposed local law would stretch those terms to four years.

According to the legislation, increasing the terms would “reduce the cost of frequent elections, and enhance the efficient operation of town government.”

The Virgil Town Board will discuss the legislation this evening. The group meets at 6:30 p.m. at Virgil Town Hall.
