SPENCER, NY (607NewsNow) – A capital improvement project is moving forward in a Southern Tier school district.

On December 9, voters in the Spencer Van-Etten Central School District narrowly approved the $22.6 million project, 119-115.

According to the district, the project will address critical safety, learning space, and infrastructure needs at all district buildings. Improvements include interior and exterior renovations, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing upgrades, new playground areas, a new multipurpose synthetic turf athletic field, and more.

The project is being funded through New York State Building Aid and existing capital reserves. The work is expected to be completed in 2028.
