WAVERLY, NY (607NewsNow) – We’re learning more about an abandoned dog in Tioga County.

Last week, Waverly Police announced that a male dog was found tied to a pavilion at Waverly Glen Park.

Officers gave the pup food, water, and plenty of treats before turning him over to animal control. According to Waverly PD, the dog’s owner was identified on August 25 and charged with multiple offenses. The suspect’s name and charges have not been disclosed.

The Waverly Police Department says the community response played an important role in the investigation, adding that the dog is now safe and being cared for.
