Winning DRI projects in Binghamton focus on Clinton Street business district

BINGHAMTON, NY (607NewsNow) – The Clinton Street Neighborhood Business District in Binghamton is getting major investments.

On May 14, the 17 winning projects of the city’s $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) grant award were announced.

Among the winners is retro arcade Robot City Games, which is receiving $90,000 for critical infrastructure repairs and upgrades, and Clinton Street itself, which will see $2.5 million in streetscape renovations, new sidewalks, and public art installations.

  • renovate streetscapes, sidewalks, and install public art on Clinton Street ($2.5M)
  • construct Phase II of Vanguard Village Housing ($1M)
  • marketing and branding for Clinton Street area ($350k)
  • transform Titchener Building into a modern light industrial center ($1M)
  • Boys & Girls Club expansion ($1.35M)
  • upgrade existing apartments and restore historic storefronts at 165-167 Clinton Street ($385k)
  • renovate mixed-use property at 141 Clinton Street into new Italian eatery ($250k)
  • rehabilitate apartments above Clinton Street Cafe
  • transform 54 Clinton Street into a restaurant and catering service ($450k)
  • convert 40 Clinton Street into a community event space and art studios
  • upgrade Robot City Games facility and facade at 126 Clinton Street ($90k)
  • restore 157 Clinton Street into Dapper Rascal Barbershop and Community Tea Bar
  • improve the facade of a historic mixed-use building at 56-58 Clinton Street ($279k)
  • build STACK Youth Center at 19 Clinton Street with modular classrooms for educational and financial empowerment ($244k)
  • enhance facade and grounds of Old Union Hotel ($321k)
  • enhance exterior and grounds of Helping Celebrate Abilities (HCA) facility ($215k)
