Working group formed to explore just cause termination in Ithaca

ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — The city of Ithaca is taking another look at just cause termination after the Common Council approved a resolution on Wednesday, Feb. 4. 

Mayor Robert Cantelmo tells 607 News Now a special committee has been formed.

Cantelmo adds the 5-member committee will work with groups on both the labor and business sides.

The Common Council was first tasked with exploring just cause termination in 2024. Mayor Cantelmo says he’s hoping for some concrete results this year.

The committee is authorized through the end of 2026.
