These fine guys are members of the Trumansburg HS FIRST Robotics Team. It’s just the second year for the team, that is 100% community supported. The team competes in FIRST Robotics Competitions. The program is called “The Varsity Sport for the Mind”. Students that participate in FIRST programs are eligible for over $20M in scholarships.
Last weekend at RIT they finished as the #1 Ranked team and qualified for the National Championships in St Louis on April 22-26th – which is only 3 weeks away.
At the FIRST World Championships, 600 of the best teams from around the World converge to compete at the Edward Jones Dome, home of the St. Louis Rams.
This is only the team’s second year competing and they will be going up against teams that have been around for over 10-15-20+ years and have many more resources than the young team..
They now need to raise the funds for the competition entry fee along with travel and lodging costs. Event fees are $5000. Transportation and logging is estimated to cost over $6000. To cover these costs they’re working to get more business sponsors and have a get more donations – they’ve set up a GoFundMe page for supporters to donate on-line –http://www.gofundme.com/tburgrobotraiders
