This Country star held the Guinness record for buying a round!

A:  Merle Haggard!

He bought 5,095 C.C. waterbacks for the crowd at Billy Bob’s honky-tonk in Texas back in 1982.  If you don’t know, a C.C. waterback is a shot of Canadian Club whiskey with some water to chase it down.

He did this in honor of his 28th hit song, C.C. Waterback . . . and his tab was $12,737.50.  Which in today’s money is over $40,000.

His record stood for an impressive 34 more years, until 2016, when it was broken at a brewery in England celebrating the Queen’s 90th birthday.
