Thursday Morning Briefs

Here’s The Things You’ll Want To See Hear and Know Today.

The Big Picture

A horrible crash in Truxton last evening.  Seven people lost their lives.

On Tuesday there was an explosion in a trash can at Disneyland.  No one got hurt, but they evacuated Toontown because of it.  It turned out to be a dry ice bomb.  Yesterday a Disneyland employee named Christian Barnes was arrested for it.  (They’re holding him on bail of a million dollars.)

Someone is sending ricin letters to Mayor Bloomberg of New York City.  One was sent to his office, and one was sent to the office of his group Mayors Against Guns, in Washington, D.C.  No one got sick from either letter.  (The first letter said the attack had to do with Bloomberg’s stance on gun control.)

TMZ got some comments the other day from a few of Justin Bieber’s neighbors, about what a dangerous driver he is.  Sounds like he’s not too popular in that neighborhood.  (One of them calls Bieber a cockroach.)

Adam Levine got in some trouble on Twitter yesterday, after he made a comment on “The Voice” and people REALLY took it the wrong way.  It happened on Tuesday night, when two of Adam’s last three singers got eliminated.  While he was off camera he said, quote, “I hate this country” . . . talking about the voters that voted against his team.  And everybody started acting like he was a traitor or something.

Here’s his Twitter feed

“Inside the Actors Studio” celebrated its 250th episode on Bravo last night.  It’s been going for 19 years now.  Here’s a classic clip where Will Ferrell takes his James Lipton impression on the show, and interviews the REAL James Lipton.  (James says his favorite word is “me,” and his least favorite word is “you.”  After the clip he talks about Will’s impression of him, and says he doesn’t know of any other show that has had as many great comedians as his show.)

Even though the 16th season finale of “Dancing with the Stars” was the show’s lowest-rated finale EVER, it was still the most-watched show on TV last week with 15.2 million viewers.  And the final performance episode did well too, with 15 million.

Earlier this month, we heard that ANGUS T. JONES would not return to “Two and a Half Men” as a regular character next season.  Now, there are reports that the show is adding a new FEMALE character to replace him.

Deadline.com says it’s a girl “in her late teens or early 20s,” who shows up at Walden and Alan’s door, looking for her father.  She claims she’s the daughter of CHARLIE SHEEN’S old character . . . and ends up moving in with them.

The part hasn’t been cast.  By the way, it’s still unclear if Angus is coming back.  Last we heard, he was invited to return in a limited role . . . but no one has said for sure if that’s happening or not.

Doctors have placed KEIFER THOMPSON on complete vocal rest . . . so THOMPSON SQUARE has to shut it down for a while.  They’re canceling four shows tonight through Sunday where they would have been opening forLUKE BRYAN.

Those shows are tonight in Canandaigua, New York . . . tomorrow night is Hartford, Connecticut . . . Saturday in Camden, New Jersey . . . and Sunday in Boston, Massachusetts.  COLE SWINDELL will be taking their place.

Keifer poured his heart out in a statement at ThompsonSquare.com.

Blake Shelton’s “Healing in the Heartland” benefit concert was last night in Oklahoma City.  Miranda Lambert, Reba McEntire, Vince Gill, and Usher were all there to perform.  Miranda was in the middle of “The House That Built Me”, and she got too emotional to sing.  She kept playing, but she missed a whole verse before she got her voice back.

The Backside of the News

A guy in Rhode Island got in trouble the other day for bringing his Shetland pony into a liquor store with him.  He was coming home from a children’s pony show, and he stopped to pick up some booze.  He said the sign out front only said no dogs or cats, so he brought the pony in.  But then the pony took a DUMP in the middle of the store, and the guy refused to clean it up.  The owners called the cops, and they made the guy go back and clean it up.  (In this clip you hear a cop talking first, then one of the store owners, and then the pony’s owner.  His name is William Saviano, and he’s 51.  There’s security footage of him walking with his pony in the store here.  Local news reported that the store now has a “No Horses” sign out front.)

It’s graduation season . . . so how much money should you give a new graduate as a graduation gift these days?  According to a new survey, people give an average of $111 for a high school graduation . . . $243 for a college graduation . . . and $256 for a grad school graduation.
